YOLI ARTIST Oi Lin Irene YEUNG,
Yoli is the artistic pseudonym of Irene Yeung, an independent artist from Hong Kong specializing in painting and illustration. Expanding frommetal vessel design into the broader art field, she creates vibrant, emotionally rich works that blend contemporary illustration with mixedmedia, weaving universal themes of identity and emotion into captivating stories. With over a decade of product design experience, Irene founded Derangedsign studio in 2020, crafting minimalist yet creative metal productsinfused with Chinese philosophy, art and culture, Confucian and Taoist thought, and rooted in Hong Kong's cultural heritage. Her functionaldesigns encourage reflection and harmony in daily life. Now under the name Yoli, she develops immersive paintings that explore life and human nature, capturing the East-West fusion of Hong Kong, highlighting core values of coexistence and mindfulness. Through innovative visual narratives, she fosters cross-cultural dialogue, aspiring toconvey emotions and messages via dots, lines, and planes.
As Yoli, I invite viewers into a world where color, emotion, and philosophy intertwine. Rooted in Hong Kong's dynamic blend of East andWest, my paintings and illustrations capture the beauty of harmony and coexistence—drawing from ancient Chinese wisdom like yin-yangbalance and mindfulness, while embracing contemporary expression.Having transitioned from designing philosophical metalware to the fluid freedom of paint, I seek to tell stories that resonate universally:exploring identity, inner peace, and the interconnectedness of life. Each piece is an invitation to pause, reflect, and connect—bridgingcultures and fostering deeper appreciation for the subtle beauty in our shared human experience. Through art, I hope to spark dialogue andinspire mindful living in an ever-changing world.
"City Roots and Zen Shadows" – Where urban chaos meets inner stillness. Inspired by “Great hermits hide in the city,” these works traceHong Kong’s restless spirit—its struggles, resilience, dreams, and the quiet wisdom of Chinese philosophy that blooms even amid theconcrete.
